Meet Our Dog History
Our first dog arrived in 1995, our foundation stud, "Derby" who had a heavy Pinehaven pedigree. His grandsire was the famous Dillon, the first dog to win our breed's National Specialty twice and the Portuguese National in Portugal. Derby's dam was Dillon's sister Penny, a stunning bitch. Derby and I were Top Ten in the Nation for 4 years, winning numerous Best of Breed wins, Group wins, a Best In Specialty Show, and an all breed Best In Show (BIS). Our second dog was Sedona was also heavily Pinehaven. Her mother is Dillon's daughter Libby and her sire is Willy, who is Derby's half brother. Sedona's grandmother was Conchita imported from the Do Vale Negro kennel in Portugal. Half of our dogs share Sedona in their pedigree. Derby's daughter, "Tea" Ch DoMarco's Boston Tea Party, is our true foundation bitch. Most of our dogs are down-line from Tea who is a gorgeous bitch that is alive and well at 14 years. Tea was a gift to my sister, and the beginning of Lynne's passion in the breed. Tea made all of us proud winning Winner's Bitch, Best Bred By Exhibitor, and an Award of Merit at her first National Specialty. A few years later, Tea's son, "Tailor", Ch DoMarco Suits Me To A Tea" would not let the legacy end, and also won Winners Dog, and Best Bred By Exhibitor at his first National Specialty. Tea's son "Lipton", MBISS CH DoMarco My Cuppa Tea, THD, CGC, is equally impressive as a dog who went from being a champion show dog in the Top Five, to learning to be a service dog and also working as a therapy dog. Lipton has won awards as a therapy dog, and currently works in an elementary school assisting children who are struggling readers. Of all the titles, and success it is our therapy dogs that I am most proud of! We now have many dogs in the DoMarco family doing therapy work in hospitals, schools, retirement homes, and with troubled youth. These dogs and their committed owners are by far our most proud achievement. |
